Order Related Questions
How do I place an order with the Rand McNally store?
You can easily navigate through our store by browsing or searching to find the items you are looking for and then add them to your shopping cart. To complete your purchase, click on the Proceed to Checkout button located on the Shopping Cart page. You will be asked whether you want to checkout as a guest, log in to your account if you’ve purchased before or to create an account if you prefer. Then simply fill out your billing, shipping, and credit card information and submit your order. Please be sure that you allow pop-ups for the site and that your cookies are enabled.
Who should I contact for Online Store related questions?
Product related questions can be answered by referring to the Product Description section of the product page. Please use the search box in the upper right to find the product for which you are looking. Click on a product to find detailed product information. If you still have questions at that time, please send an email to Store@RandMcNally.com.
Can I add something to my Online Order that I just placed?
Unfortunately, we are unable to modify an existing online order once it has been placed.
If you need to order additional items, please place a new order. If you have any other questions, please refer to the other Frequently Asked Questions or send an email to Store@RandMcNally.com.
How do I place a tax-exempt order?
You can place your order online, and then send us your tax exempt certificate via email to: Orders@randmcnally.com or fax it to us at: 877-469-1298. Be sure to include your online order number with the certificate so that the Orders Department can apply the correct discount to the correct order number.
What does it mean for an item to be on Backorder?
A backorder occurs when a product is out of stock. We will notify you of the backorder and if possible, provide you with the date the product becomes available. The item will remain on backorder status until it becomes available for shipping. Your credit card will not be charged until the product is shipped to you.
If I order an item that is backordered, when can I expect to receive it?
Once an order is available to ship, the product will be shipped based on the initial shipping request made at the time of order.
What is Estimated Tax?
U.S. Sales Tax: As a company that conducts business in all 50 states, we are required to collect the applicable sales taxes for all orders shipping to U.S. delivery addresses. An estimated sales tax will appear on your online order total.
When can I expect to receive my order?
For the most up to date tracking on your order please refer to the Order Confirmation email that was emailed to you. If you are a registered user you may also log in to your account on our website and then select the “My Orders” tab to see order status and details of any past order you have placed. Please see shipping and handling costs chart below for estimated schedule.
I cannot find a map I’m looking for, what should I do?
The newest editions we currently offer are those on our website. If the items you are searching for are not on our store website, then unfortunately, they are no longer available on our website. We apologize for the inconvenience. However, please continue to check the site to see if newer/updated versions are available.
In addition, we do offer customized maps. Please visit http://customview.randmcnally.com to create and order your customized map. I received a Failed Authorization Transaction error, what does that mean?
If you received an error message due to a Failed Authorization Transaction during the checkout process, your credit card information was either incomplete or contained invalid data.
Failed Authorization Transactions tend to occur when credit card information is incomplete due to an incorrect billing address, zip code, and/or security code.
Please note: This is not an actual charge from Rand McNally and should drop off your credit card within a few business days depending on how your bank processes such charges.

Why am I showing multiple charges on my credit card?
The initial amount charged when an order is placed is actually a credit card authorization hold and does not include state taxes. Once the order is processed, we would include the applicable tax for your state. This is the second posting that would appear on your account. The initial authorization hold charge (without the tax charges) would be released and should no longer appear on your card. Consumer law states that we cannot charge a customer without delivering a product first.
Can I order a gift for someone else and have it shipped directly to them?
Yes. We will even remove prices, and add a gift message!
It's simple. Just choose your gift items and add them to your shopping cart. When you check out in the shopping cart page, fill in your name and address in the billing section, and the gift recipient's name and address in the shipping section. Then check the box in front of “Check this checkbox if you want to add gift messages”, and write a personalized gift message in the fields provided.
Certain products are restricted from being shipped outside of the United States. Where this restriction applies, we will state this in the product description. The Rand McNally online store currently accepts orders and will ship to the United States and Canada. Some exclusions apply. See product details for exclusions.
All pricing and delivery charges are in U.S. dollars. All merchandise is shipped Free Carrier (Incoterms 2001) at our point of shipment in the United States. Accordingly, all merchandise is delivered to you at the time we provide it to the courier in the United States for shipment to you.
Bulk or oversize orders shipping to international addresses are subject to additional shipping and handling fees that will be determined upon ordering. A Rand McNally Store representative will contact you via phone or email with your shipping options should your order be subject to these additional charges. Please contact us if you'd like a shipping estimate on all oversize or bulk shipments to international addresses.
Any applicable shipping discounts apply to the cost of standard shipping within the United States. Orders utilizing all other shipping methods will receive a discount equal to the cost of standard shipping off their order total. How long does it take for my order to ship once it is placed?
We process orders Monday through Friday. In most parts of the United States, that means you'll receive your order within 10 working days for products displaying "Usually ships in 1-2 days." If your order is shipping to Canada you should receive it within 1-6 weeks of placement if shipping via Air Parcel Post. To receive your order more quickly, choose the International Express shipping option when you place your order.

My order was returned to your warehouse after UPS tried to deliver it three times. What now?
To ensure the safe delivery of your purchase, our GPS devices require a signature. Also, due to the value of the order we take this precaution to decrease the chance of your package being lost or stolen.
After three attempts by UPS to deliver a GPS device, if no one is able to sign for the package then the device is returned to our Distribution Center.
If your order is returned to our Distribution Center then a refund will be applied to your credit card account within 4-6 weeks from the date that we receive the returned package.
If you would like to place a new order for a GPS device then please visit store.randmcnally.com. Please be sure to provide a Shipping Address where someone will be able to sign for your package.
Can I track my order once it has been shipped?
Rand McNally generally ships products USPS, USPS International, or UPS. We provide tracking information for UPS shipments only.
Does Rand McNally ship internationally?
Following is the list of countries from which we currently accept orders and to which we ship: United States, Canada. Some exclusions apply. See product details for exclusions.
Do you ship to APO/FPO addresses and PO Boxes?
Unfortunately, we do not offer shipping to APO/FPO addresses or PO boxes.
Questions about Returns
What is your return policy?
Because your satisfaction is important to us, we've made our return policy simple. You may return items bought at Rand McNally.com for any reason within 30 days of delivery for a full refund of the product and associated tax, unless otherwise noted below. We'll pay the return shipping cost if the return is a result of our error. Note: You will be responsible for any shipping costs associated with the return.
Return guidelines for specific products
- GPS Units: Must be returned within 30 days of receipt.
- Dieselboss camera systems: Must be returned within 30 days of receipt and returned directly to Dieselboss. ADD Address information.
- Computer software: Must be returned unopened within 30 days receipt.
- Lifetime Maps: Can be returned within 30 days of receipt if key code has not been activated.
Your return or exchange can be shipped using the return address mailing label included on your packing slip. Please follow the instructions on the packing slip and include it with your return, citing the reason for the return in the space provided, and ship to this address:

After we receive your return, we will post a refund to the original credit card that was used to place your Order. This may take up to 4-6 weeks. Refunds for gift items will be issued to the gift giver.
Rand McNally is not responsible for items lost in transit if you choose a shipping method that cannot be verified.

Has my credit for a return been processed?
As soon as Rand McNally receives your returned order, we’ll issue a credit to the original credit card used. This process may take up to 30 days.
Taxes and Customs
All merchandise is shipped Free Carrier (Incoterms 2001) from our point of shipment in the United States. Accordingly, you may be required to pay import duties and taxes which are levied once the merchandise reaches your country. Additional charges for customs clearance are also your responsibility; we have no control over these charges. Customs policies vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs office for further information. In addition, when ordering from Rand McNally you are the importer-of-record for customs purposes and you must comply with all laws and regulations of the country in which you are receiving the goods.
Customs forms for all international packages list the value of your order's contents by product type only, such as - Books Value: $24.95, or Merchandise Value $19.95.
If the order is a gift, the package is marked "Gift," but the cost of the items is still stated on the customs form. Currently, we are not able to describe the contents in any other way.
Rand McNally is registered for Canadian Goods & Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax ("GST/HST") purposes. Our GST/HST registration number is 13891 4254 RT0001. We are required to collect GST/HST on the merchandise you purchase from us. We remit the GST/HST collected to the appropriate taxing authority.
